Harvesting your Herbs

Frequently tip pruning is the best way to harvest herbs. Taking the fresh growing tips stimulates new growth. So constant tip pruning of oregano, basil, thyme and sage is the preferred method. With chives, a nice snip every now and then, leaving a tuft.

If you do not require immediately for cooking, herbs can be oven dried and stored in glass jars for later use. Parsley can be kept in the freezer for convenience.

Recipe for Traditional Bouquet Garni

Herbal Tips
Discover great herbs by giving them a coffee fix. Make yourself a cup of coffee and then spread the grinds around your seedlings to make a natural deterrent that keep snails from inviting themselves over for dinner.

Re-hydrate during gardening by brewing a tasty herbal tea.
